A Swedish delegation visited Ohmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital this week

A Swedish delegation led by Sweden’s Minister for Health, Elisabet Lann , and Minister for Gender Equality, Nina Larsson , visited Ohmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital this week.

During the visit, the guests were shown how the hospital continues to operate during war and what enables Ohmatdyt to keep providing treatment for children despite the ongoing risks facing Ukraine’s healthcare system. The visit also highlighted the long-standing cooperation between Ohmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital and Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset , which has continued for the past three years. During this time, our specialists have completed internships and specialized training programs in Sweden. Today, the results of this collaboration can already be seen in the hospital’s daily work.

The Swedish delegation visited the neonatal surgery department and the anesthesiology and intensive care unit with ECMO beds, where they met with doctors who had completed training at Karolinska University Hospital. The medical teams spoke about the patients currently receiving treatment and the new approaches that have been implemented following their training.

“Our cooperation with Sweden is extremely important to us, as it provides support in several key areas — from specialist training to medical equipment, consumables, and mental health support for our patients. Over the past few years, we have seen significant changes in the work of our teams. It is especially valuable for us that our partners were able to witness these results firsthand — in the work of our doctors and nurses, in new clinical approaches, and in the stories of our patients,” said Medical Director of Ohmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital, Tetiana Ivanova.

We thank our Swedish partners , Embassy of Sweden in Kyiv for their visit and for supporting Ukrainian pediatric healthcare, and we look forward to further strengthening our cooperation.
