Sweden and Ohmatdyt: years of trust, support, and gratitude

For several years now, the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Ohmatdyt” has been receiving invaluable support from our Swedish partners — Astrid Lindgren Children’s Hospital at Karolinska and the Beredskapslyftet initiative.

Thanks to this collaboration, our hospital regularly receives humanitarian aid that covers critical needs for various departments. We’ve received essential medical supplies for several key units:

The Intensive Care Unit has been provided with everything necessary for ECMO procedures — oxygenator systems, cannulas, connectors, as well as infusion lines, infusion system sets, and stopcocks. We are also expecting catheters and supplies for acute kidney therapy. These are materials without which ICU operations would simply be impossible.

The Radiology Center received a modern TBI Table Rotation system, enabling total body irradiation (TBI) procedures with millimeter precision. Additionally, thermoplastic masks for patient fixation during radiation therapy and radiopaque markers for accurate positioning were delivered.Ohmatdyt is currently the only hospital in Ukraine performing TBI treatment

Surgical departments received dressing materials and equipment for surgical treatment of newborns with congenital abnormalities.Beyond humanitarian aid, we especially value another crucial aspect of our partnership — knowledge and experience exchange with Karolinska University Hospital. Our doctors undergo internships in Sweden, train with leading specialists, adopt modern treatment approaches, and implement these new skills into their daily medical practice.

We sincerely thank our partners at Karolinska and Beredskapslyftet for their continuous support, trust, and consistent efforts to improve Ukrainian healthcare. This is not a one-time act of help — it is a friendship that endures, even in the most difficult times.
